“Gondole” is a system of benches, low stools and chairs designed to take the user back to a time where people used to call each other by name, a time in which one could reach his destination by simply taking advantage of the streams. Nowadays, thanks to this project, Venice briccole have reached their destination in parks and streets of modern cities.

By cutting the largest briccole lenghtwise it is possible to obtain several different kind of seats: the classic bench with or without backrest, a low stool and a small “riding bench” for children of all ages. All the seats are reinforced with a metal frame coupled to the briccola with CNC routing and vandalism-proof bolts.

The second project brings out the double soul of the briccole, the outside is carved by water and decorated by the shellfishes whereas the core is still young and ready to begin its new life as a public seat. Perhaps, one day, a couple of lovers will cuddle on it without even knowing to be seated on the very heart of Venice. Hence the name of the project: Love in Venice!

By cutting a briccola crosswise it is possible to obtain slices of different thickness with very little waste. By then coupling the slices at different heights it is possible to lighten the look of the bench giving a floating feeling.
